Only available to residents of India, Europe, and North America
The company is seeking a hands-on Principal AI Platform Engineer for the Platform Engineering Team. This is the most senior individual-contributor engineering role on the team: you set the technical direction for AI platform, design the production-grade AI and software services and SDKs that other teams build on, and raise the delivery bar across the organization by making AI-assisted development (e.g., GitHub Copilot) the default way of working.
The ideal candidate is an elite Python engineer with a track record of owning platform-level architecture at scale, deep expertise in Web APIs, SDK design, and cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS), and production-level mastery of LLMs, RAG, and prompt engineering. You lead through architecture, standards, and influence — not headcount.

O que a posição pede no dia a dia
- Engagement Type — Contract-to-Hire (please read carefully):
- This is a contract-to-hire (CTH) engagement. You start as a full-time contractor (40 hours/week) for 12 months.
- At the end of the 12 months, the company intends to convert the role into direct, permanent employment.
- Candidates must be willing and able to convert to a full-time employee at the end of the contract period. Candidates who only want contract work are not a fit.
- Location & Work Model:
- India, US or EU. You must be based in India, Unites States or Europe and legally authorized to work there.
- First 12 months (contract phase): remote from anywhere in India, US or EU.
- On conversion to full-time employment: relocation to India (Pune or Chennai), US (Houston, Minneapolis, or Atlanta), or Europe (Amsterdam - Netherlands or Bari - Italy) office locations is required, working a hybrid model of 8 days per month in the office.
- Willingness to relocate is a non-negotiable requirement — please confirm before applying.
- Background We Prioritize
- Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field from a top-tier Indian institution — IIT (Indian Institutes of Technology) graduates are strongly preferred; NIT, BITS, and IIIT graduates are also of high interest.
- Employer pedigree: Significant engineering experience at FAANG / Big Tech or equivalent high-scale product companies (e.g., Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Apple, Netflix, Nvidia, Uber, Salesforce, Adobe, Atlassian, or a comparable global product engineering organization) is strongly preferred.
- These are preferences used to prioritize candidates, not absolute gates. Exceptional engineers with demonstrably equivalent platform-scale experience will be considered.
- our Skills
- Elite Python Engineer: You build resilient, self-healing, scalable systems and APIs, and you are the person others come to when the hard design decision has to be made.
- Platform Architect: You design systems that other engineering teams consume, and you reason clearly about backwards compatibility, versioning, blast radius, and total cost of ownership.
- AI-Assisted Pro: You pair-program effectively with AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to "vibe code" while maintaining engineering rigor, code safety, and readability — and you define how the wider team does the same.
- Bias for Action: You can design, develop, test, validate, and deploy production code quickly using the toolchain provided.
- Quality Driven: You write high-quality, well-tested code and automate everything you can (tests, builds, deployments, checks); you own the quality gates the rest of the team works within.
- Cloud-Fluent: You are comfortable with Azure and/or AWS, specifically serverless, containers, and managed services.
- Deeply Curious: You experiment thoughtfully and iterate based on data and feedback.
- Strong Communicator: You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders up to senior leadership, and can explain complex tradeoffs concisely.
- Execution-Centric: You own outcomes end-to-end and thrive in an agile, collaborative environment.
- Responsibilities
- Own the architecture of the AI platform end-to-end: define target-state design, technology selection, and the migration path, and socialize it with engineering leadership.
- Architect and implement secure, scalable Web APIs in Python (e.g., FastAPI), including authentication/authorization, rate limiting, and observability.
- Design, develop, test, version, and publish Python SDKs consumed by multiple internal teams, including semantic versioning, deprecation policy, strong documentation, and samples.
- Set the standard for AI-assisted development across the team — tooling, prompt and review practices, safety guardrails, and measurement of the productivity gains actually realized.
- Build, deploy, and operate applications on Azure and/or AWS (e.g., Azure Functions, App Service, AKS; or AWS Lambda, ECS/EKS), using infrastructure-as-code where appropriate.
- Develop AI solutions using LLMs and RAG (e.g., Azure OpenAI Service, Amazon Bedrock, embeddings, vector stores), including prompt design, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails.
- Define engineering standards for testing and validation (unit, integration, contract, and load tests), code coverage, and quality gates, and make them enforceable in CI.
- Instrument services with logging, metrics, tracing, and dashboards; proactively identify and remediate bottlenecks and defects; lead incident reviews and drive systemic fixes.
- Partner with product, data, security, and platform leadership to shape the roadmap, define requirements, ship features, and meet SLAs/SLOs.
- Mentor senior and lead engineers on Python best practices, AI-assisted development, performance, security, and operational excellence; act as the technical reviewer of record for significant designs.
- xperience & Skills Required
- 2+ years of professional software development experience, of which 8+ years are hands-on Python in production environments.
- Demonstrated Principal / Staff-level scope: you have owned the architecture of a platform, service family, or SDK used by multiple engineering teams, and can walk through the decisions, trade-offs, and measured outcomes.
- + years building and operating Web APIs at scale (FastAPI, Django, or Flask), including OpenAPI/Swagger and contract-first design.
- + years deploying to cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) using services such as Azure Functions/App Service/AKS or AWS Lambda/ECS/EKS, and infrastructure-as-code (Bicep/ARM/Terraform). Azure is strongly preferred.
- + years of hands-on Generative AI experience in production, including prompt engineering, LLM integration, RAG pipelines, and model/response evaluation frameworks you designed rather than inherited.
- Demonstrated daily use of AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate delivery, with the ability to describe concrete productivity gains, guardrails applied, and how the practice was rolled out to others.
- + years designing, versioning, and distributing SDKs (packaging, semantic versioning, PyPI or an internal package registry), including managing breaking changes across consuming teams.
- + years with CI/CD (Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions), automated testing (pytest), and quality tooling (ruff/black/mypy).
- Strong understanding of security and compliance (OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, secrets management) in an enterprise setting.
- Observability experience with centralized logging and tracing (OpenTelemetry, Azure Monitor, CloudWatch), including defining SLIs/SLOs.
- + years of data layer experience across SQL and NoSQL, including schema and access-pattern design at scale, plus hands-on work with vector databases (e.g., Azure AI Search, OpenSearch, Pinecone).
- Nice to Have
- Experience in a regulated or enterprise B2B information services domain (legal, tax, healthcare, finance, compliance).
- Agentic AI / multi-agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel) and MCP-based tool integration in production.
- Containerization and orchestration at scale (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS) and multi-region/high-availability design.
- LLM evaluation and observability tooling (LLM-as-a-judge, prompt-pipeline tracing, cost/latency optimization).
- Open-source contributions, patents, published technical writing, or conference talks.
- Soft Skills
- Fluent professional English, written and verbal, with the ability to hold the room with senior leadership.
- Influences without authority: builds consensus across teams that do not report to them.
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-moving AI environment.
- Pragmatic about trade-offs between delivery speed, technical debt, and long-term maintainability.
- Overlap Hours:
- hours with CST — This is a firm requirement; please confirm you can sustain these hours before applying.
